Choosing to be a member of Riverside Wesleyan Church means that you are committing yourself officially to the mission and future of our church.
This video truly reveals the heart behind membership – BELONGING.
MEMBERSHIP AT RIVERSIDE IS NOT DIFFICULT!!!
The goal is that you “Believe, Belong, and Become…”
- Believe: This means that you have accepted Jesus Christ as the Lord of your life and have become baptized to declare this to others.
- Belong: You should be strengthening relationships and participating in the Christian family and joining in the church missions of discipleship.
- Become: Finally, it is critical to be continuing spiritual growth and striving to live a holy life.
In the words of Thom S. Rainer:
“Its not membership as in a civic organization or a country club. It’s the kids of membership given to us in 1 Corinthians 12: “Now you are the body of Christ, and individual members of it.” Because I am a member of the body of Christ, I must be a functioning member, whether I am an “eye,” an “ear,” or a “hand.” As a functioning member, I will give. I will serve. I will minister. I will evangelize. I will study. I will seek to be a blessing to others. I will remember that “if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.” (1 Corinthians 12:26)
So what are the responsibilities of a member?
- Members must attend regularly.
- Should be eager participants in church activities, functions, etc.
- Love and care for the congregation. Committing to prayer and support for all in the congregation.
- Members will vote on pastoral terms and will confirm new members.
- Overall, members will live by example for the whole church and community.
